On April 18th, Emily from Mouth Of The Border and J.D. from Citizen Taco met yours truly at my favorite Harlem Taco Establishment El Aguila and started eating.
We each tried twelve (count ’em – 12) tacos from three separate establishments above 80th Street and east of Fifth Avenue. I was going to call it the “East Harlem Taco Tour,” but Cascabel is solidly entrenched in its UES-ness, from the location to the decor to the frilly, expensive tacos (and if you wanted to try the one J.D. was taking about in the video, it’s here: Tulcingo Del Valle).
El Aguila came out victorious, but received a bit of a fight from the Chorizo Taco at El Paso and the Fish Taco at Cascabel. I don’t know too much about tacos, but I’ve never had a bad one at El Aguila. It’s one of my favorite places to show people in the city when they come here. Of course, I’m the mayor.
