Gastronauts & Fried Shit

A few weeks ago, I was reading my Gastronauts newsletter and saw an invitation to be on a Food Network show, so I figured, what the heck. Might as well send them an e-mail and see what happens. Maybe I was one of the only people to send an e-mail or maybe they handpicked me from a list of thousands, doesn’t matter to me because I was there and had a Fried Lox Bagel.

It wasn’t half bad. Could have used some red onions and capers, though. The people that ordered the food were from a production company in Minnesota – I don’t know if they’d ever had proper Lox bagels before, so for the record, all you Minnesotans; Lox, Cream Cheese, Capers, Red Onions, and if you like soupy jelly on your bagel as well, Tomato (I don’t know why this is such a staple – it’s terrible).

Here’s the pre-shoot (we couldn’t take video when the production company was taking video):

Tune in tomorrow for my full bloggity rundown on all the wonderful and interesting things we ate at the shoot!

Hello there, this is my first comment – I discovered your blog wandering around. How appropriate, given your wandering name.

I had heard about the new outrageous food show with Tom. if it is true what I heard, i.e. that the show is going to be a prime time show, I guess we know who the real winner of the latest next food network’s star is…

Somehow I had thought this show would have been more outrageous, though.

Yep! We’re all happy with the Tom selection here on WanderingFoodie.com! He’s not Andrew Zimmern, so he didn’t try everything that was fried, but he tried a lot of it. I think he liked the lox bagel even if he wasn’t a huge fan of lox ;-)

Yes, I have ready that you were rooting for the big chef! I though he was a little bit too similar to Guy Fieri in style. But I am happy he got a good show.

        Not sure about Herb.

Gosh, I would love to try the fried lox bagel! It would be a good step in my discovery of American food!
