Swift was kicked out of college and lived to be some ridiculous age for that time. The guy has about as much tradition in Dublin as Guinness. He was ordained in the church of Ireland, Dean of St. Patrick’s Cathedral until his death, and also bequeathed money to found a hospital in Dublin. He was pretty much Ireland’s Renaissance man.
